What is it?
Every plan up to now has included evacuation. To where? To the “nearest, best facility”, that’s where. That is, they will help you get you to a hospital that has both the skills and the equipment to treat you. What if that’s not where you want to be, or not where you want to recover after receiving treatment for your injuries. These plans will evacuate you, by air ambulance if necessary, once admitted to any hospital in the world, they will transport you to any hospital you would like to go to. Some plans will fly in a triage team to get you to a hospital or even pluck you from Everest base camp. Some plans additionally have political rescue provisions if the country you’re living in experiences civil unrest. These plans do not cover the cost of medical care in the country in which you are located.
Who is it for?
These plans are especially popular with people who still have insurance in their home country and might or might not also have a travel medical insurance plan. People living abroad who have medicare and/or those living in places with inadequate medical facilities who would prefer to get care back in their home countries for a variety of reasons.
